Established in 1976, Abilkhan Kasteev State Art Museum houses a remarkable collection of over 23, 000 works of art, including traditional and contemporary Kazakh pieces, Soviet-era art, Russian works from the 17th to early 20th centuries, as well as European masterpieces from the 16th–20th centuries.
