As per the legend, a demon resided at the fort many years back hence it is otherwise called Bakasura Malai. In the 18th century, Tipu Sultan used the fort as an outpost which is now a ruin with a wall remaining. Nestled 1800 metres above sea level, this enchanting fort is over the western ghats.
