Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple, Pondicherry Overview
Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is said to have been established almost 5 centuries ago. Situated behind the Raj Niwas, the sanctum is enshrined with a grand idol of Vinayaka called Vellakkaran Pillai. The temple attracts a large number of devotees especially on the 18th day of Brahmotsavam festival. Vinayaka Chaturthi is another major festival here celebrated with great zest and fervor. However, the temple is not without a legend.
