Mandarin’s House, Macau Overview
Tucked in the parish of Sao Lourenco, Mandarin’s House in Macau is the former residence of Zheng Guanying, the legendary Chinese reformist and Qing theoretician, now converted into a museum. Also known as Casa da Cheang, the house covers 4000 square metres, making it one of the biggest family houses in Macau. Housing 60 rooms in total, this architectural marvel is worth a visit. The construction of the palatial Mandarin’s House was initiated in 1869 by Zheng Wenrui, Guanying’s father. At the time it was built, it overlooked the Inner Harbour, with views of the various ships coming in and out of Macau.
