Chitkul, Sangla Overview
Chitkul is the last inhabited village on the old trade road into Tibet, set at 3, 450 metres where the Baspa river runs past wooden Kinnauri houses and a small Mathi temple. Beyond the village, the land rises toward a ridgeline that marks the Tibetan border, close enough to feel the scale of it. For those walking the Kinner Kailash parikrama, this is where the journey ends; for everyone else, it's reason enough on its own, though the road closes under snow for much of the winter.
